Passport & visa  

Entry visa can be arranged at the Egyptian consulates abroad. It is available at the airport with the valid passport at least six month from the date of the entry into Egypt.

Banks are closed on Fridays and Saturdays, and open during rest of the days from 09:00 am to 02:00 pm. Most embassies are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Shops are generally open from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm, seven days a week.


The principle of tipping must be justified by special help of distinguished service rendered. In hotels cruises, and restaurants, an official 12% service charge is added to the bill, together with other applicable taxes. Extra tipping is normally paid to their staff who excel in extended service, and it motivates more attention to paying guests, individuals and group. Tips may also be paid as a token of appreciation.


Light cotton garments in summer, and woolen ones in winter. A sweater might be needed in the evenings in the summer time and woolen in the winter. Cap and sunglasses are advisable.
